The most corporate time of the year.

Even if you’re planning to do all of your holiday shopping at farmers markets and local co-ops this year, you can’t deny: There are certain brands that are synonymous with Christmas and the holidays in general. Let’s see what they’re up to this year.

From the AdLand archives

But first: What’s the most iconic holiday ad of all time? There are plenty of contenders out there. But for me, it’s always going to be this 1986 Folgers spot.

Peter!

The new stuff

This ad is adorbs. But I’m not going to lie. The use of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” vs. just a lil’ holiday ditty is the most unnecessarily expensive and ridiculous musical choice I’ve ever seen in an ad.

Sometimes I get upset by the sheer size and political clout of Disney. But it is simultaneously true that I cannot get through November and December without watching about 4 bajillion of their movies.

The concept of serious actors reading Amazon reviews is brilliant. The only thing that makes this a holiday ad is that Benedict is in front of a Christmas tree whilst a holiday tune is played on the piano. And it works.

Thanks for being here. We’re so glad you stopped by. Want to submit a campaign to AdLand? We’re here for it!

Give the Gift of Marketecture

Did you know that AdLand is a part of the broader Marketecture Media family? It’s true. And if you want to give yourself or your advertising colleagues the gift that keeps on giving (until March, that is), then consider a ticket to Marketecture Live III, March 10-11, 2026.

Twice the show. Twice the attendees. Right now, at a very festive Early Bird rate. See you there!
